Blurry…bleary…one of those words defines the last few weeks. This summer, copious amounts of coffee and chocolate are getting me through.
Don’t worry, I have no complaints. It’s just that all this fun leaves little room for sleep!
What has had me so busy? I’m in heaps of final edits for “Soul Search” for a July release available to readers in advance during the July 18th-22nd Menage a Blog tour. I’m so excited for the new version of this title.
Plus, Blog Tour de Troops created huge buzz and two non-fiction books I co-authored will release this summer, too.
There’s “Muse Food: Getting Hungry” written with Jess Macallan. This book dives into getting to know you, your muse and learning tricks to connect with your creativity fast.
And there’s “Dollars & Sense: The Definitive Guide To Self-publishing Success” co-written with my fellow Indie Book Collective co-founders Rachel Thompson and Carolyn McCray. I can’t wait for its big Bestseller For a Day 99 cent blowout on June 29th!!!
The Indie Book Collective is growing hard and fast, which I love. Thanks to our events and classes, more and more indie authors are earning traditional style success, hitting bestseller lists and taking charge of their careers. I’m so grateful to be one of them with “Fierce Dawn” and “Irish Moon” still rocking the top 100 Amazon Kindle lists!
So, today, I raise my mug. Cheers to no sleep and big dreams coming true!
The Blog Tour de Troops has come to an end. *sigh*
I am humbled by the overwhelming response and outpouring of gratitude to our troops. My fellow authors did such an amazing job, helping the Indie Book Collective’s first Blog Tour de Troops a major success.
How major? Tune in today 4:30pm PST to the Indie Book Blog Talk Radio show to hear the final number of ebooks and Kindles to the troops! Just click here.
Not only that but “Irish Moon” rose to #2 on the Kindle Fantasy Historical list over the weekend thanks to the Blog Tour de Troops carry over.
I feel like the luckiest author ever today!
Just. SO. Cool!

Yep, each commenter gets an ebook for them AND one for a troop!
Today, Kelli McCracken joins me and we are talking gratitude and indie and rock n roll…
A: Kelli, what does gratitude mean to you this Memorial Day?
K: What about you, Amber? What does gratitude mean to you this Memorial Day?
A: It means a lot of the same to me. I stand on the shoulders of my ancestors who struggled and fought to bring a better life to their children. My uncles fought in world wars. My grandparents settled wild lands. I get to live a better life every day thanks to their sacrifices and hard work. As a woman, I get to dress as I please, speak as I please, even write as I please all because I was born American. I sleep safe at night thanks to those braver than me who live by a call to duty.
A: And what does being Indie mean to you, Kelli?
Fierce Dawn’s Bestseller For a Day is Heeeeeerrrreeee!
I’ll be on Facebook, on Twitter, and here in comments, reporting on the numbers and saying hi to the 40 plus book reviewers who loved Fierce Dawn enough to show support of it’s big day.
The flood of supporters has me spinning, grinning and dancing with glee. From long time ones like My Eclectic Bookshelf, A Tale of Many Reviews and I Smell Sheep to newer ones like Coffee Mugged, Ao Bibliophile and The Bookish Snob.
I wish I could list them all but I fear I’d overwhelm ya! So instead, sneak over on breaks, watch sofa side and pump your fist right along with me. I can feel it. We really can and will DO this!

One of my favorite scenes to write and get inside of in “Fierce Dawn,” is Sadie witnessing immortals sparring for the first time. Then when she gets her shot at practice. Bjork’s “Army of Me” captures the slamming beat of Sadie’s heart and the first threads of determination she holds onto as she attempts to take her human kick-boxing moves to a whole new level.

What song screams fight scene to you?
I love, love, LOVE music when I write and thought it would be fun to share the songs that suck me into certain scenes.
While writing “Fierce Dawn,” Florence and the Machine’s “Cosmic Love” captures the essence of Sadie’s struggle and her fighting spirit. I get a physcial reaction to it and must see Water For Elephants thanks to the song being in the preview. (Okay, yeah. Seeing delicious Rob didn’t hurt.)
Still, it makes me think of Sadie and Elijah in flight and the heat that crackles between them.
